What This Position is All About
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Regional Director of Stores, the VP/General Manager is responsible for increasing sales by focusing on driving the selling process through developing and managing effective selling teams and creating a service and selling culture that delivers results. 


The VP/General Manager is responsible for building and leading a high performance selling organization; driving performance through direct oversight of the selling process, and coaching managers to effectively motivate the selling team to achieve selling goals, while ensuring that the customer service experience as delivered by the store team consistently exceeds customer expectations. 


The VP/General Manager understands that the success of the organization is tied to the quality and performance of the team, and is responsible for developing, motivating and retaining talent in order to drive sales results and maximize store volume.

You Also Have:
  • 4 year degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of management experience with luxury retailer or comparable experience.
  • Established community relationships.
  • Complete mobility required.
As The VP/General Manager, You Will:
  • Selling Culture
    • Creates a strategic vision around selling and clientelling behaviors. Rallies support from the team to implement.
    • Through strong selling floor presence and hands on coaching of store leadership and the selling management team, positively impacts the sales and productivity of the selling organization.
    • Promotes a clientelling culture that supports the Saks philosophy and drives the use of technology.
  • Marketing
    • In partnership with the Marketing Director, oversees the development of the strategic roadmap to engage top/high net worth clients as well as elevates overall market position.
    • Maintains relationships within the community to meet and retain target customers and to identify marketing opportunities.
  • Talent Development
    • Directly oversees the Senior Leadership team, Fifth Avenue Club (Personal Shopping Service), and Visual Manager. 
    • Responsible for promoting the Assistant General Managers to promotability.
    • Knows competitors top talent selling associates.
    • Provides leadership and motivation to the Fifth Avenue Club (Personal Shopping Service) to drive selling and clientelling.
  • Product
    • Work with RSM to address matrix needs and vendor requests
    • Has a point of view on communicating to the merchant organization regarding merchandise matrix.
